Welcome back to the good old USA. In the media, everything seems like a toxic waste dump ... but when I go on walks or go the grocery store, I love my neighbors. Funny huh?
As you know well, nothing is ever black and white, not even zebras. I have lived in parts of California where everyone is nice to everyone, even if you're not their immediate neighbor and I've lived in parts with the highest crime rates in the area. In San Fransisco I've walked from a nice family neighborhood into a park where homeless people slept in the bushes. There are many Americas and this is why it is so difficult to bring us together. Good people are out there, they are just quietly going about their lives because truly good people think that seeking recognition is not part of being a good person.

Welcome home, and yes, the political atmosphere and the increased sectional hate is more toxic than I remember in my lifetime.
