Ferris Bueller is still a favorite movie of mine. Thanks for the wonderful post. That was a bonding moment with my kids. We were stuck in the air over NYC in a puddle-jumper and the kids started quoting the movie and it kept them occupied.
I probably never mentioned that I used to read tarot cards. I learned from a friend at college. She was very into it, and believed. I didn't really but I kept the cards and notes until I moved back to NY in 2016. Then they felt like bad karma and I threw it all out.
Anyway, your work is always interesting.
I'm going back to it soon...I have direction again. I'm keeping Anne Lamott of "shitty first drafts in mind." If I'm not ready, it won't go farther than my laptop.
No, you never mentioned tarot cards before. I'm glad to hear that you feel you have direction again and that you're ready to start making a shitty first draft. I always find that Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert is a big motivator for me, too.
All of this made so much sense to my brain. Ferris Bueller was one of my favourite movies as a 12 year old, and I wore out the VHS on which I’d recorded it by watching it every day after school for months.
Cameron was my favourite character, and looking back I see how that says a lot about me and my taste in humans. I like a cautious anxious person, because I get it.
I loved all your animal analogies, and am grateful to know you and read your writing.
Of course 🫶 I also watched the Ferris Bueller’s Day Off Cracked link and it was very funny. I was a Cameron person too so it spoke directly to my heart.
I'm glad you found it funny. I thought I was pretty funny, too. It made me want to watch it again. Maybe I will this weekend. There's a good argument to be made that Cameron is actually the main character. He has the biggest character arc. Ferris doesn't have one, at all. I feel a kinship with both of them, though.
It really does feel like they are two aspects of one person. I definitely have my Ferris moments too. I guess sometimes I need to be Ferris for my Cameron, and vice versa.
The universe just gave me a body and said, “Life is through there. Have at it.”

That sounds like a really nice memory. I'm glad that you had that.
Your post brought it all back to me! Other passengers joined in the conversation too, as we bounced in the air.

Thank you. I'll check it out.

Thank you so much, Wake. You're so sweet. I really appreciate you taking the time to read and leave a comment. It means a lot to me.

Thank you for this delightful discussion!
“Here’s the snake, completely oblivious to the insanity of the world”
Poor snake-y has no idea how many mountain bikers are nearby. Hurry up, buddy, cross that trail faster!
He wasn't crossing. He was just hanging out tasting the air.
Oh no!
I know!
